Treasures
Of all the treasures that I own,
I am most thankful for the ones from you.
When I'm lonely, I pick them up,
and don't feel so blue.
They could all fit neatly in a box,
but I keep them close to me,
For I need their comfort,
when I'm lost and can not see.
Letters and gifts for me alone,
to read and hold,
Keep you always in my heart,
and warm me when I'm oh, so cold.
The gentle music that you gave to me,
plays softly as I sit and read old letters of love.
We've had times of sorrow and pain,
but God, in His wisdom, has sent angels from above.
A beautiful angel sits upon my shelf,
and plays a tune that is just for me.
I'm reminded of all we've shared,
and my eyes open again to see,
To see that this love will never die,
for our hearts are entwined for all time.
The clouds may drift in,
but the Son is always there to shine.
To shine down from heaven,
as lonliness and loss begin to rain,
Leaving me confused,
and tossed as the wind by my pain.
So I read and hold my treasures,
given in love to me from you,
Knowing that the words and gifts,
will always be true.

Alone
I spent the day cooking and cleaning,
doing things that needed tending to.
Soft rock and roll,
gentle piano tunes,
kept me from feeling blue.
Yet as I listened to old songs,
I thought only of you.
The wind beneath my wings,
played softly upon my mind,
and I was taken back in time.
Back to days of laughter and love,
when your heart became entwined,
with only mine.
Yet as I listened to old songs,
I felt the tears on my face.
My heart will go on,
no matter where you are,
for love is always there.
And through my tears,
I do know that you love me,
and will always care.
Yet as I listened to old songs,
I felt a great sadness.
The choices of my life,
are the same as yours,
yet we are far apart.
I miss your smile,
your touch,
the love within your heart.
Yet as I listened to old songs,
I felt the need to talk to you.
Tell him,
the unspoken words,
weighing heavy on my heart.
I love you,
wishing we were together,
giving ourselves a new start.
Yet as I listened to old songs,
I felt a deep lonliness within.
I'm so lonesome,
as I spend my days,
thinking of only you.
And wondering,
as I wander,
if you think of me too.
I spent the day cooking and cleaning,
doing things that needed tending to.
Soft rock and roll,
gentle piano tunes,
only made me feel blue.

This Kiss
It was just a kiss,
but a kiss like this,
lasts a lifetime.
This kiss,
filled with love & longing,
brought with it,
a passion that never should be missed.
A kiss,
just a gentle kiss,
opened my heart,
and joy entered in.
A gentle kiss,
filled with passion,
allowed the love to begin.
This kiss alone,
spread the love,
hidden for so long,
deep within my soul.
A kiss,
just a tender kiss,
brought the trust,
that had been lost.
A tender kiss,
filled with love,
gave me back to myself.
This kiss,
opened my eyes,
and through my soft tears,
I felt no fears.
A kiss,
just a soft kiss,
released the passion,
closed off for years.
A soft kiss,
filled with longing,
taught me to give.
It was just a kiss,
but filled with such love,
that I know I must live.
I may never feel this kiss again,
but it was given to me alone,
to turn my heart from stone.
A kiss to open my heart,
to love and hope,
for a new tomorrow,
filled with no more sorrow.
It was just a kiss,
but a kiss like this,
will stay in my heart.
My heart may ache,
longing for this kiss again,
but the hope is deep within.
The hope that this kiss,
once again,
will be filling me with the love,
I now can see.

A Woman's Love
If you look deep within my eyes,
you might see a glimmer of my heart.
But remember, I am a woman,
and it has been bruised and torn apart.
If you think you know me through my eyes,
look again.
And remember, I am a woman,
made of flesh and bones, not tin.
Some say that it is through a kiss,
that one can know my heart.
But remember, I am a woman,
and a kiss isn't what makes love start.
Love starts with the feelings,
and they often come through words.
And remember, I am a woman,
and my feelings may fly as the birds.
I may love you,
yet the love within me is hidden.
But remember, I am a woman,
and some feelings are forbidden.
Forbidden by me alone,
for the hurt is more than I can bear.
And remember, I am a woman,
who hides and sometimes tries not to care.
If you look deep into my heart,
you will see a woman who loves you.
But remember, I am a woman,
and I need your love too.

The Heart Never Forgets
Two souls, miles apart,
know of lonliness and loss.
Yet in solitude,
each knows of the greater cost.
Two souls become as one,
with a connection
which can never be broken.
True soulmates will live on,
and if not together,
love is still spoken.
Memories of a time shared,
are within the heart.
For the heart never forgets,
even as they live apart.
Moments of solitude,
bring a smile remembering the love.
Which came as a serendipity,
upon the wings of a dove.
Shared moments of verse,
with music drawing them together as one.
And a gift of pearls,
symbolizes the connection under the same sun.
For true soulmates love in the same way,
and share the same heart.
Together or far away means nothing,
for with the same heart, they are never apart.

Beloved
There is a place that I go
at the end of each day.
It is my place to sit,
as I think and pray.
At times,
I allow my dogs to join me.
But only if they will sit,
as I look at the sky to see.
I see the face that I'm searching for,
through the dark.
His name is Beloved,
and he carries my heart.
I pray that it is not a heavy load,
as my heart has been wounded thru the years.
If my dogs can not be still,
they must leave me to cry my silent tears.
My tears are not heard,
as my Beloved is far away.
Yet I know that he can feel them,
as he also sits, thinks, and prays.
Our prayers are simple,
as our needs are few.
A small log cabin in the woods,
with a river running through.
A fire to add comfort,
and a candle to light our way.
No sounds to distract us,
and lead us astray.
Our thoughts and prayers are heard,
even though we are miles apart.
For you see,
we share the same heart.
Many do not understand,
as they never sit on a porch.
And they will never feel as we,
for they do not have the love,
that is stronger than a torch.
The sky is brightened by his face,
and I need no light to see.
For his face is etched in my mind,
as it will always be.
My silent tears are stopped,
as he touches my heart.
And they are replaced with a smile,
as I leave my porch,
to sleep and dream of never being apart.

Consummate Devotion
I can see you and feel you,
as I sit outside late at night.
Miles may separate us now,
yet you are still within my sight.
Why is this so?
And
What does this mean?
I am middle-aged,
yet I feel as young as a teen.
My eyes need spectacles,
to see the beauty around me.
Yet I need not wear them,
as you are with me to see.
I can feel your presence,
as I stare out at the darkened sky.
And I stop questioning,
and wondering why.
Once in a lifetime,
we meet another who lives in our heart.
And my heart is filled with love,
as I think of how we will never be apart.
For my heart will always be with you,
and I need not question what this means.
For there is always a reason,
whether we know it or not.
Yet the reason is quite clear to me,
as I listen to the wind as I was taught.
Man may join two together,
yet it is God,
who joins the souls and hearts of two.
I was not searching,
yet God knew of my inner need,
and He gave me you.
You were not searching,
yet God knew of your inner need,
and He gave you me.
Clouds in daylight,
give a day vision of heart,
and allows our eyes to see.
I can see that God is love,
and I can feel it,
as I sit outside late at night.
For you are next to me,
within me,
surrounding me,
for your heart is within my sight.
